Huge rock crystal for Naturalis

In the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek hospital the art committee has decided to place a large piece of petrified wood in the entrance of one of the clinics. Another polished slab of petrified wood is also placed on the wall behind the reception. Both pieces refer to each other. As interior designer and member of the art committee at the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek hospital, I came up with the idea to place rock crystals in the radiation rooms. These are dark spaces and due to the correct lighting the beautiful rock crystals are great.

Through these crystals I came into contact with the large parts of petrified wood, at stone gallery. These beautiful "art objects of nature" would have a great effect in one of the clinics. The colors are fantastic and the fact that petrified wood is millions years old makes the wood very special. I also wanted our patients / clients to be able to touch the gem and therefore, I also placed a sign with the text "touch me", along with the explanation about the petrified wood. The petrified wood is a beautiful object that certainly gives some distraction from the often harsh reality, which is certainly present in the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek.

Salon Residence:
In 2017, we were asked by Residence Magazine to create a business lounge for Salon Residence within the 'boutique hotel' theme. This event took place in the SInger museum in Laren, The Netherlands. At Linda Lagrand Interior Design studio, the luxurious hotel feeling at home stays central. We work with exclusive materials, natural colors and contrasting structures so that it becomes an exciting whole. In the business lounge we have shown a number of pieces from Stone gallery. Some polished, others in their completely natural form, sometimes with exclusive golden veins. These pieces were an embodiment of the above key words: exclusive, natural and contrasting. A very good match and the start of a collaboration for the next projects.

We wanted to place a 'piece of art' on the marble floor, but not a regular sculpture. Something that contrasted with the smooth natural stone and the tight walls. We wanted color and an eyecatcher. Something from nature. How beautiful is the result with these amethyst geodes.

For some time I was orientating on the purchase of a unique work of art in memory of, and made possible by, a gift from my grandfather and grandmother. Margriet and I discovered the possibility to buy a real fossil in the museum shop of the Teylersmuseum. An online quest then took us on a Saturday afternoon at the warm and cheerful reception of Peter. 

That is where a previously unknown world opened up for us. A wonderful world in which history, uniqueness and aesthetics come together and can be purchased. A perfect place for a couple where one grew up with Jurassic Park and the other has a passion for interior design.
